TV sportscasting
University of Delaware
Since February 2022, Mike has taught a hands-on TV sportscasting class in the Department of Communication. Students learn the whole crew: play-by-play, color commentary, sideline reporting, interviewing, and studio hosting, plus the work behind the camera.
Mike's class works hands on with the Blue Hens All-Access group which produces and streams multiple sports, along with STN49: the Student TV Station. The class has also been on trips to the Chase Field House in Wilmington, DE and observed the A-10 Women's Basketball Championship game - sitting in on the ESPN TV truck, watching and learning how the producer and director operate, shadowing the replay operations, and putting on the headsets to hear what the broadcasters are listening to during a game.
